Packing the perfect camping tents for your trip will dictate the level of comfort and protection you will experience. It can be tempting to just pick the coolest tent you come across to at your favorite sporting goods store. However, is it worth the money and the investment? The perfect tent should be able to fulfill your personal preferences and withstand most weather conditions.

1. Before purchasing camping tents write down your preferences. Consider how many people will use the tent and how much space you need. Under what weather conditions will you use it? Is carrying capacity a factor? Do not just think about your immediate needs, but also consider your future requirements as well.

2. Consider the weather conditions. There are three tent classifications according to weather. All season or convertible can withstand most weather conditions except winter. 3 season tents are more versatile. It can withstand any weather condition except the harshest of winter. 4 season tents are considered as heavy duty tents and are best for extreme weather climates.

3. Decide on your carrying capacity. Lightweight tents are best for backpacking or hiking. However, it can only fit about 2 persons. Family tents and cabin tents can be transported by car. However, also consider how you’re going to transport heavier tents from the vehicle to the campsite.

4. Examine the tent material carefully. The tent material will dictate how much protection and ventilation your tent can provide. Most tents utilize state-of-the art materials which provide adequate ventilation and are water resistant.

5. Purchase a tent cleaner and repair kit. If you are a frequent camper or hiker, you must take good care of your camping tents. Also consider that your tent can be damaged during your trip so keep a repair kit handy.
